Recipe Book

As I’m sure you all can tell by now I love to check out new recipes and crafts. Im also forever collecting recipes from family, friends, magazines and online. A few years back I found myself with stacks and stacks of pages from magazines and printouts from online as well as recipes jotted down on notecards and napkins and who knows what else.  I couldn't find what I was looking for if my life depended on it.  So one day I decide to get a little organized and I put together a binder. I divided up the binder by categories with an additional spot to put craft and decorating ideas.

Each time I tear out a recipe from a magazine or print one out I add it into my binder covering each one with a plastic sleeve as I go. If they are on notecards I save myself the time of typing it and I tape the notecard to a sheet of paper and slide that into the sleeve.

Now I even go a step further......after I try a recipe I make sure to note any revisions I made and I even give the recipe a rating using the 5 star system.  Below a three and it quickly gets removed from the sleeve and is deposited directly into the garbage.
I would love to say that every recipe is filed away as soon as its received but that is wishful thinking.  With a family of five and a home to take care of they still occasionally start to pile up.  That is why when you purchase your binder make sure it has a pocket on the inside.  This way you collect your recipes for a time, tuck them away in the binder pocket and when you get a chance file them away.
My next step (when I have a good amount of free time) I'm going to go to the next level and create multiple binders with more specific dividers.  As an example I will have a main course binder and divide them by type....chicken, fish, beef, etc.
I’m telling you this is so nice to have it saves time, organizes your life and it will turn out to be a nice little keepsake to pass down to your kids in the future.
