First Times A Charm

Hopefully everyone is over the initial shock of fall and is enjoying it for all of its beauty.  Other than the massive amounts of rain and my feet freezing because I cant give up my flip-flops, I personally am enjoying it immensely.  We’ve already done the field trips to the orchard and we are looking forward to the up-incoming Halloween parties.
My recipe this week is Chicken Shawarma.  This took a lot of searching, weeding through scary recipes and because of my lack of knowledge of Middle Eastern spices going on a wild goose chase for something that I could have made in a blink of an eye. Luckily you don’t have to make the same mistakes I did and hopefully I’m saving you some of your much needed time. I hope you enjoy it as much as my family did.
I added a couple other recipes that pertain to this one such as the recipe for 7 Spice and for homemade pickles.  These you will find under the recipe tab directly after the Shawarma recipe. You are more than welcome to buy store bought pickles but we are partial to the homemade kind. Not to mention they are great to snack on for months to come.  These are great to make when you can get all the ingredients from your garden or local farms but I’m still seeing them at the local market as well.
My craft this week is a Spooky Pumpkin Scene.  Its a great time to do it with all the Halloween items on clearance.  It will give you a little time to display it now and then you can store it away for next year.  It looks much harder than it is.  So don't be scared away! The kids will have fun going to the store to pick out all the spooky figurines you will need and they can also give a hand in the process of putting it all together.
Lastly is my tip for pealing a kiwi.  I know its not a difficult thing to do in the first place but theres always an easier way.  Check it out.  I even added a video for your viewing pleasure.
As always I hope I inspired you to get cooking and get crafty!  Enjoy!!
